Indiana Department of Education Superintendent Glenda Ritz will be the speaker at the annual Owen County Jefferson-Jackson Dinner on July 26. The event, sponsored by the Owen County Democratic Party, will take place at the Christian Life Center of Spencer First Christian Church at 157 S. Montgomery St. in Spencer.
Ritz, an educator since 1978, was elected in 2012 with goals that included devoting more time to education and less time to testing and returning the control of implementing state and federal standards to local districts.
The event will begin with a 5:30 p.m. social hour, followed by dinner at 6:30. Tickets are $20 per person; contact Owen County Democratic Party Chairman Frank Coffin at owenchair@owendemocrats.org or at 812-821-0255 to purchase.
