Wednesday, January 15, 2014 - 6:30pm

Join Hoosiers for a Commonsense Health Plan on Wednesday, January 15 @ 6:30pm for the new documentary, "Inequality for All" at the Monroe County Public Library Auditorium, 303 E. Kirkwood Ave, Bloomington. In this new documentary film, Inequality for All, Robert Reich, economist, professor, author and former Secretary of Labor addresses income inequality.  "We're in the biggest economic slump since the Great Depression, and we can't seem to get out of it.  Why?  Because, exactly as in the 1920's so much of the nation's income and wealth are going to the top, that the vast middle class doesn't have the purchasing power to keep the economy going."On January 8, 1964, President Lyndon Johnson during his State of the Union address introduced legislation with the unofficial name the "War on Poverty".  In 1965, as part of the Great Society, Congress passed Medicare and Medicaid.  Here we are in 2014, advocating to expand the Medicaid program to help working Hoosiers who fall into the coverage gap because Gov. Mike Pence opposes Medicaid expansion as a part of the Affordable Care Act.  Martin Luther King, Jr. reminds us to keep working for healthcare reform with his famous words, "Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane."
