Message:    Over the last several months, a group of several dozen concerned Hoosiers have made great

strides towards helping to introduce the Moral Mondays Movement to Indiana.

We are working on strategies to achieve two goals:

1.      To help facilitate the September 19-20, 2014 visit by Rev. William J. Barber, II, president of the North Carolina NAACP and principal leader of the Moral Mondays Movement of North Carolina, to Indiana for a weekend of training, rallies and meetings of leaders from communities across the state; and

2.      To recruit organizations statewide to join the Movement to bring equal justice to Indiana’s courtrooms and criminal systems, to bring equal opportunity to those in poverty and workers trying to scratch out a living, and to fight racial prejudice and bias across Indiana.

The agenda for the June 14 meeting is:

1.    A report on Rev. Barber’s visit to Indiana for September 19-20

2.    Review of the IMMWG Mission Statement and Outreach (Save the Date) Flyer

3.    Committee Reports:

a.            Outreach/Communications – online technologies, offer a primer in Outreach how-to, and a rollout of our overall communications plan in July, i.e. Google Chat, etc.

b.            Education Committee – Outreach education modules (using Bloomington meeting as a model), brief discussion of Fort Wayne city council vote to ban collective bargaining for city workers, excluding police and fire fighters.

c.            Events Planning/Organization Committee

4.            Barbara Bolling, president of the Indiana State NAACP, will offer comments and advice on how IMMWG can work with NAACP branches statewide to make Moral Mondays effective in Indiana.
