Earned Income Tax Credit Outreach (Monroe Co.)

he United Way of Monroe County has announced a partnership with the Financial Stability Alliance for South Central Indiana for its “Free Community Tax Service” season.

Five outreach events in Monroe and Owen counties this week will join national efforts to raise awareness of the Earned Income Tax Credit, as well as provide local, free tax assistance. 

 

The credit can return up to $6,143 to working individuals and families, even though 1 in 5 eligible people do not claim their credit, according to a news release.

This week, the partnership will host “EITC Awareness Day” events at the following locations and times:

Friday:

• 3-5 p.m., Monroe County Public Library, 303 E. Kirkwood Ave., Bloomington.

• 4-6 p.m., IGA Ellettsville, 4681 W. Richland Plaza, Ellettsville, 

• Noon-2 p.m., Bloomington Housing Authority, 1007 N. Summit St., Bloomington.

• 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, 1100 W. Allen St., Bloomington.

Saturday:

• 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Owen Valley Public Library, 10 South Montgomery St., Spencer.
