Bloomington Resistance March

Saturday, January 20, 2018 - 12:30pm

WHEN: Jan. 20, 12:30 to 2PMWHERE: Courthouse Lawn on the Square, Bloomington

We’re organizing this event for those of us in Bloomington and surrounding areas who cannot make it to Indy (or Chicago, or Las Vegas!) for the Women’s March “Power to the Polls” event. Come express solidarity with progressive women who are mobilizing for protest and change across the country — this weekend, for the 2018 elections, and beyond.

For more information about the mission and unity principles developed by the Women’s March, see https://www.womensmarch.com/mission/

We plan to keep this event simple.
Gather on the Courthouse Lawn at 12:30 PM, welcome and open megaphone at 1 PM, immediately followed by march around the Courthouse (along the path and lawn around the Courthouse, not the street).

If you’d like to take advantage of the open megaphone, please prepare a SHORT (1 minute or less) statement of what you’re gathering/marching FOR or what you’re protesting. If you’d like to prepare a statement but don’t feel comfortable reading it out yourself, one of us will be happy to read it out for you.

We’re asking for short statements to give as many people as possible a chance to speak.

We would like to particularly welcome and encourage young women of all backgrounds to come and speak out at this event — What do you take issue with in the world around you? What kind of future are you marching and mobilizing for?

Witty signs and t-shirts (over coats?) positively encouraged!

We still encourage those who can make it to Indy to do so — we’re happy to get you info on busses and carpools if you need it. For more information on the Indy Women’s march event, see: https://www.facebook.com/events/2073896855955504/?ti=icl
